Performance
The new Ford Explorer is available in two powertrains. The first is a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the lower trim levels, eliciting 300 horsepower. Most models with this engine type are rear-wheel drives, with some having the all-wheel drive as an option. The second powertrain is a 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged engine that produces 400 horsepower. Out of the two powertrains, the former has better fuel economy, with an EPA-estimated 28 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg in the city.

The latest Explorer has an updated front fascia with a new set of LED headlights and air curtains. The front grille is blacked out and largely dominates the front fascia.
